Dutch Oven Desserts

Dutch oven desserts are where cast iron shines. The thick walls hold steady heat, so cobblers bubble, dump cakes bake up golden, and apple cake stays moist. Start with the Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler or Dutch Oven Apple Cake, or browse all 22 cobblers, cakes, and dump cakes in my Dutch oven desserts roundup.

Cast Iron Desserts

Cast iron desserts go from stovetop to oven to table in one pan, so cleanup is easy and the crust gets crisp. Try the Gooey Butterscotch Brownies, Mini Lava Cakes, or Homestyle Cast Iron Apple Pie. For more ideas, see my cast iron skillet recipes.

Skillet Desserts

Skillet desserts are the quickest way to a warm sweet treat, because a 10 or 12-inch skillet gives you extra surface area for browned edges. The Popular Skillet Cookie (Pizookie), Skillet Apple Crisp, and Skillet Sugar Cookies all come together with simple pantry ingredients.

Campfire Desserts

Campfire desserts need very little fuss, since a Dutch oven and a few coals do all the work. The Camp Oven Peach Dump Cake and Lemon Blueberry Dump Cake are made for camping, and my Dutch oven camping recipes cover the rest of the menu. Use the Dutch oven temperature chart for coal counts.
