Easy Skillet Beanie Weenies

Equipment

  • 10-inch cast iron skillet

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs sliced (see notes)
  • 6 cups baked beans (~48 oz of canned beans)

Instructions

  • Heat the large skillet (at least 10-inches) over medium high heat.
  • Slice the hot dogs and sear them in the hot skillet for just a minute or two, drain any renderings.
  • Reduce to medium heat and gently stir in the baked beans.
  • Heat thoroughly, stirring occasionally, about 2-4 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy.

Notes

Use a package of your favorite hot dogs; some have 8 count and others have 10 count. Some packages are 10 ounces, others 12, 14, or 16 oz. 
A few common mix-ins:
  • Brown sugar
  • Add ketchup, bbq sauce, Dijon or yellow mustard.
  • Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce to deepen the flavor
  • Onions and garlic or onion powder and garlic powder
  • Salt, pepper and even a pinch of cayenne for some additional heat.
