Skillet Alfredo Sauce is incredibly easy to make at home and is the perfect sauce for your favorite pasta.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Dairy — You will need butter and heavy cream. If you use salted butter, you might not need to use additional salt in the recipe but always taste for seasoning.
  • Seasonings — Garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Cheeses — Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses, both grated.
  • Olive oil — Part of the base of the sauce. Any cooking oil will work.

How to make Skillet Alfredo Sauce

Step one — Over medium high heat, add the butter and olive oil to a 12″ skillet.

Step two — Once the butter has melted, add the garlic and pepper, stir well, then slowly stir in the heavy cream. Bring the cream to a low simmer.

Step three — Once the seasoned cream has begun to simmer, add the cheeses by the handful, constantly stirring to make sure they melt in evenly.

Step four —After the cheeses have been incorporated to make the sauce, taste for salt, adding any if needed. Let simmer for a few minutes then serve over your favorite cooked pasta.

How do I make the sauce thinner?

Add a tablespoon of warm pasta water at a time until the sauce reaches it desired consistency.

Can I add chicken?

Yes! Once the sauce is made, before tossing it with the pasta, stir in cup to 3 cups of cooked chicken.

What vegetables can I add to make this a bit heartier.

Broccoli is classic, but we also love sauteed zucchini, peas, carrots, and brussels sprouts.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • ¾ cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Add butter and olive oil to 12″ skillet and melt on medium high heat.
  • Add pepper, garlic powder and heavy cream cook until it begins to simmer.
  • Slowly incorporate the cheeses by the handful, taking care to stir them in completely. and additional salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once the cheese has been added and melted, taste for salt, adding some if needed.
  • Serve over prepared pasta and enjoy.

Notes

To thin the sauce, use a tablespoon of warm pasta water at a time until the desired consistency has been reached.
